ABS-CBN Foundation International is pleased to announce a global songwriting contest in support of the Bantay Bata 163 program. The contest aims to raise awareness and funds for the welfare of Filipino children, with all proceeds going towards the Bantay Bata 163 program's initiatives.

Contest Guidelines

Harness the power of music to inspire positive change and raise awareness for the Bantay Bata 163 program.

We encourage all aspiring songwriters to participate and help make a difference in the lives of Filipino children. We look forward to receiving your inspiring entries!

Eligibility

The contest is open to students of all ages from any part of the world.

  • Participants must be enrolled in an educational institution at the time of submission.
  • Alumni who have graduated within the past year are also eligible to enter.
  • Multiple entries from a single participant are allowed.
  • Collaboration between students is permitted.
Theme

Entries must revolve around the following:

  • For the Future of the Filipino Child
  • In Service to the Filipino
  • The Reason is Love

Entries should reflect the values of compassion, hope, and empowerment for Filipino children.

Submission Guidelines
  • Compose an original song in any genre (pop, rock, ballad, etc.)
  • Submit entries in MP3 format, including a written document containing the song lyrics.
  • Lyrics should be in English or Tagalog.
  • Entries must not exceed five minutes in length.
  • The names of all collaborators must be listed on the submission and will be considered as one submission with one prize winning.
Deadline for Submission: May 30, 2024
  • The deadline for submission is 11:59 PM PST, May 30, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • By submitting an entry, participants agree to abide by the contest rules and guidelines.
  • The decision of the judging panel is final and cannot be contested.
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and any entry found to be in violation will be disqualified.

Winners Criteria and Prizes

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity and Originality (30%):
    Uniqueness of the melody, chord progressions, and overall composition.
  • Relevance to the Theme (30%):
    How well the song conveys the theme and message of the contest.
  • Lyricism and Musicality (25%):
    Quality of the lyrics, rhyme scheme, and musical arrangement.
  • Overall Impact (15%):
    The emotional impact and effectiveness of the song in conveying its message.

Judging Panel

The entries will be judged by a panel of esteemed musicians, lyricists, and industry professionals, including representatives from ABS-CBN Foundation International and Bantay Bata 163.

Announcement of Winners

The winners will be announced on June 15, 2024 through our official website and social media platforms. Winners will also be notified via email.

Winner must be available to travel within 3-4 months or if taking cash value, must provide finished final recording files by Sept. 1, 2024.

First Place
  • 2 Plane Tickets to the Philippines at a time of your choosing
  • $500 USD cash prize
  • Recording studio session to professionally record the winning song
  • Feature of the winning song on ABS-CBN Foundation International's website and social media platforms
  • Certificate of achievement
  • Opportunity to perform the winning song at a Bantay Bata 163 event or fundraiser
Second Place
  • $300 USD cash prize
  • Feature of the winning song on ABS-CBN Foundation International's website and social media platforms
  • Certificate of achievement
  • Opportunity to perform the winning song at a Bantay Bata 163 event or fundraiser
Third Place
  • $150 USD cash prize
  • Feature of the winning song on ABS-CBN Foundation International's website and social media platforms
  • Certificate of achievement
Intellectual Property

Participants retain the rights to their submitted songs but winning entries grant the organizers the right to use and promote the entries for contest-related purposes, including but not limited to online streaming, social media, and promotional materials.

General Terms and Conditions

  • By entering the contest, participants agree to comply with and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the organizers, which are final and binding in all respects.
  • Participants must submit their entries in accordance with the specified guidelines. Entries that do not meet the requirements or are submitted after the deadline will be disqualified.
  • The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate or offensive.
  • Participants retain ownership of their songs but grant the organizers the right to use and promote the entries for contest-related purposes.
  • The organizers are not responsible for any lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete entries or technical malfunctions that may occur.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and may not be redeemed for cash. The organizers reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize is unavailable.
  • Winners will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release, and where legally permissible, a Publicity Release, within a specified time period.
  • The organizers reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the contest if fraud or technical failures compromise the integrity of the contest, as determined by the organizers in their sole discretion.
  • The contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.

These terms and conditions provide a framework for the fair and smooth operation of the contest, ensuring that all participants have a clear understanding of their rights and responsibilities.
